Getting Whimsical With Color

On my free time I paint. No, not on walls but on glass. Just the other day I started this vase and you can clearly see I had Spring colors on my mind.

Just like when I design color for a home, I need to think out the color progression on my vases. There really is a method to my madness.

For example, when I choose a color for a bedroom I have to think is this bedroom for a girl, boy, man or woman? You wouldn’t use a bubble gum pink in a mans room or black in a baby girls room because those color choices aren’t the norm and perhaps would feel a little weird and most definitely look a bit off.

So getting back to the whimsical colors in my vase, I chose them with Spring in mind. Green like you see as new leaves unfold. Perky pinks that can be found in a Mother’s Day boutique and the same sky blue you see looking up as you’re lying down on the grass looking up at the sky.

This is what color is all about. Not just picking a color because it’s pretty but choosing a color because it makes sense and men’s something to you.

Colors make you feel. Color is emotional. Choose the right combination and you can feel the results as seen in my vase titled “Whimsical”.
